‍FREE PARKING!

‍In honor of Tony Damiano, executive director and founder of the Ridgewood Guild, parking throughout the Central Business District will be FREE on Saturday, December 13 and Saturday, December 20. Our thanks to the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce for proposing this Holiday Parking Plan, which was adopted at Wednesday night’s Village Council Meeting. We look forward to a vibrant and bustling holiday season in the Village!

‍FINAL LEAF COLLECTION

The final day to place leaves curbside is TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16. Crews will complete their last pickup thereafter.

Please remember this pickup is for LEAVES ONLY. No pumpkins, cornstalks, flowers, root balls, hay, branches, limbs, or any other yard waste will be collected. Loose leaves should be placed in the street next to the curb; bagged leaves should be set on the curb. If you use a landscaper, please ensure they follow these guidelines.

Any additional leaves or yard waste generated after this final collection may be brought to the Recycling Center.

‍RFD SWEARING IN

‍At Wednesday night's Village Council Meeting, Ryan Romero (top) was sworn in as a Lieutenant in the Ridgewood Fire Department. Lt. Romero has been a dedicated public servant for nearly 20 years, rising to the rank of Captain in his volunteer department before continuing his service in Ridgewood for almost a decade. Lifelong Village resident Connor McGuire, who has been a volunteer firefighter with the RFD since 2022, was sworn in as the department's newest career firefighter. Congratulations, gentlemen!

‍THE BRIDGE IS BACK

‍Last week, the Village Council celebrated the official ribbon-cutting for the Kingsbridge Lane pedestrian bridge, which is back in place after being repaired and refurbished off site. Many thanks to our Engineering Division and to all of the neighbors who championed this project.

‍PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
AT THE STABLE

‍"Trees," 40 photographs by Ridgewood resident Larry Horowitz, are on display at The Stable through December 31. Stop by to view his work on weekdays, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The diverse images include woodland scenes; details of bark, leaves, flowers and fruit; and tree "portraits." About half the photographs were taken in Ridgewood, at the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook, along the Dunham Trail, in the Central Business District, and at Kings Pond Park.

Meet Larry at a reception at The Stable on Sunday, December 28, 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

IT'S GRINCH WEEKEND!

‍MENORAH LIGHTING

Residents of all faiths are invited to the 13th annual Menorah Lighting in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square on Sunday, December 14 at 5:30 pm. Come celebrate the Festival of Lights with your neighbors!

‍DROUGHT WARNING

‍‍Despite recent rains, the extended period of below average rainfall has had significant impacts on water supply, leaving New Jersey in a Statewide Drought Warning. Residents are asked to follow water conservation practices, and to use water wisely.

THE LIBRARY

‍The Ridgewood Public Library's celebration of Jane Austen concludes on the author's birthday - December 16 - with a screening of Pride and Prejkathudice at 1:00 pm.

‍THE DANGERS OF E-BIKES

‍Electric bicycles are an increasingly popular mode of transportation and recreation. However, their use is linked to a growing number of serious injuries, particularly among children and adolescents, according to a recent report by the American College of Surgeons. Each year, more than 20,000 people are injured while riding e-bikes, with approximately 3,000 requiring hospitalization.
