‍REFERENDUM RESULTS

Ridgewood's Open Space Referendum passed decisively on Tuesday, with 5,210 yes votes and 3,613 no votes, according to the latest unofficial figures posted on the Bergen County Clerk's website. As a result, the Village's Open Space Trust Fund levy will increase to one penny per $100 of assessed property value. For the average Ridgewood home, this translates to $35.64 more per year.

‍THANK YOU, TONY!

‍It was standing room only at Wednesday's Village Council Meeting, as we honored and celebrated Tony Damiano, founder and executive director of the Ridgewood Guild. Residents, business owners and councilmembers shared heartfelt stories and tributes to Tony, who was presented with a key to the Village.

‍FOOD DRIVE UPDATE

Thank you for your generosity! Hundreds of bags of donations were delivered to the Social Service Association of Ridgewood and Vicinity this past week, helping the 263 Ridgewood families whose SNAP benefits ended on November 1. If you haven't yet donated to the Emergency Food Drive, please consider doing so. There are more than a dozen drop-off  locations throughout the Village, including Village Hall and ALL Ridgewood Public Schools. Get the details here.

‍VETERANS DAY SERVICE

Residents are invited to American Legion Post 53's annual service honoring all veterans who have served in our nation's armed forces. The service will take place in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square at 11:00 am on November 11. In observance of Veterans Day, all Village offices and departments (except emergency services) will be closed on November 11. There will be no garbage collection or recycling pickup, and the Recycling Center also will be closed.

‍UPPER HAWES PROGRESS

‍The renovation of Upper Hawes Field is progressing nicely this week, while schools are closed for the NJEA teachers convention, and is expected to be completed over the weekend. Thanks to a generous $56,300 donation from the Ridgewood Baseball & Softball Association, Upper Hawes is being upgraded to an official Little League field. For safety, please avoid the Hawes grounds during the renovation.

‍WAITING MADE BETTER

‍The long-awaited bus shelter at Ridgewood High School was installed yesterday. The new shelter will provide students and other passengers with a safe place to wait for their ride, especially during inclement weather. We appreciate the community's patience throughout the delays.

‍FLOOD WALL INSTALLATION

‍On Monday, November 10, weather permitting, construction will begin on the new flood wall system at Village Hall. The project is expected to take three weeks to complete, with the majority of work occurring during the first six days. Both the Main Entrance and the Community Center Entrance will be impacted. However, only one entrance will be closed at a time so that employees and residents can continue to access Village Hall throughout the project.

‍RIBBON CUTTING
