‍BUDGET INTRODUCTION

‍The 2025 Village of Ridgewood Budget was introduced at Wednesday night's Village Council meeting. The proposed municipal increase of 3.14%, which is consistent with the rate of inflation, would result in a $149.63 increase on the average home in the Village valued at $712,700. View the presentation.

‍CENTRAL BUSINESS
DISTRICT SAFETY

‍Parents, please talk with your children about the new ordinance passed at Wednesday night’s Village Council meeting. Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, electric or motorized bicycles, electric or motorized skateboards and scooters, or other micromobility vehicles or devices are prohibited on sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and entrances and exits to and from parking lots in the Central Business District.

Public safety concerns prompted the Village Council to take action. "As technology continues to rapidly advance, it is the duty of law enforcement and government to adapt to these changes in order to safeguard the community," said Police Chief Forest Lyons. "This ordinance will separate high-speed vehicles and pedestrians, which will prevent accidents, and prevention is always the goal."

‍POLICE OFFICERS
HONORED

‍At Wednesday night's Village Council meeting, Police Chief Forest Lyons recognized Captain William Amorouso, Lt. Jay Chuck, Sgt. Douglas Busche, Officer Peter Youngberg, Detective Keith Killion, Detective Kyle Monton and Detective Chris Mormino for their outstanding performance during a targeted enforcement operation. The operation led to the arrest of a suspect involved in serious first- and second-degree crimes. A weapon was recovered, and additional evidence was uncovered indicating possible involvement in crimes against children. Ridgewood is safer today thanks to their work!

STUDENT PARKING
PROHIBITED

‍Parents of RHS students: Please let the young drivers in your household know that parking in the large lot by Village Hall is prohbited. During the day, this lot is reserved for employees of the Village of Ridgewood and the Ridgewood Public Library, Village Hall visitors, library patrons, and those using the walking path and playground at Veterans Field.

RHS students may park in the Graydon South lot or the Graydon Pool lot; entrances to both lots are located on Northern Parkway. Students parking in the Graydon Pool lot should use the pedestrian-activated crosswalk at Northern Parkway and Linwood Avenue.
