‍BUS STATION REMOVED
AND REPLACED

‍The bus station at Van Neste Square, which has been closed for many years, was finally removed this week and replaced with a temporary shelter. The Village will be working with the Historic Preservation Commission and Central Business District Advisory Committee to ensure that the design of the new, permanent shelter is in keeping with the aesthetics and character of downtown Ridgewood. We are also working with the NJ Department of Transporation to secure funding to help pay for the permanent shelter. Stay tuned!

‍HEALTHBARN DONATION ACCEPTED

At Wednesday night's meeting, the Village Council accepted the donation of a community fruit and nut orchard at Habernickel Park from Stacey Antine, founder of HealthBarn USA, which celebrates its 10th anniversary at Habernickel next month. The orchard will be located adjacent to the existing organic vegetable garden. When the 10 trees bear fruit, park-goers will be able to "pick, eat and learn" courtesy of educational signage.

‍ROAD WORK NEXT WEEK

‍Ridgewood Water’s project to install new water mains in the area of the Eastside Reservoir and future site of the Eastside PFAS Treatment Facility will begin next week and is expected to be completed in approximately six weeks. The work will take place from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays. Road closures and detours will be in place.

Construction of the Eastside PFAS Treatment Facility will begin later in the year. By the end of 2026, when all 12 PFAS Treatment Facilities are online, all regulated PFAS compounds will be nondetectable in our treated water, exceeding the EPA standard of 4 parts per trillion. Our system-wide project also will be completed three years ahead of the EPA’s 2029 deadline.

‍REGISTRATION OPENS
ON TUESDAY

‍Registration for Summer Camp, Tennis and Pickleball, and Graydon Pool (early-bird rate) opens on Tuesday, April 1st at 8:30 am through Community Pass. To prevent registration challenges for Summer Camp, please review and update the CommunityPass account you will be using to make sure that your child(ren)'s information is accurate. Most importantly, please verify that the grade for the current 2024-2025 school year is correct. For more information, visit the Recreation Department webpage.

‍SPRING SHRED DAY

‍The Village's drive-thru Shred Days have been so well received that the Recycling Department has arranged for two trucks to be on site for the event on Saturday, April 5th. Drive over to the Graydon Pool parking lot with a maximum of five paper bags or boxes (no plastic bags) of documents - 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or until the trucks are full.

Remember: NO shredded paper, colored paper, hanging file folders, binder clips, binders, plastics, x-rays, shipping envelopes, photos, carbon paper or other non-paper items. Get all the details here!

‍APRIL EXHIBIT AT
THE STABLE

‍We welcome Ridgewood native Eric Alexander Santoli to the Art Gallery at The Stable for the month of April. A painter, teacher and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Eric received a master's degee in Studio Art from the Florence Academy of Art in 2024. And in May of 2021, he was awarded the Versailles Foundation's prestigious Munn Fellowship Artist Residency Award. For this fellowship, Eric lived as artist-in-residence at Claude Monet's house and gardens in Giverny, France. Come see his work, including "Long View of Spring Lake Beach," pictured above.

‍NEW ARTS INITIATIVE

‍We are excited to let you know that a passionate team of volunteers has launched Outside AIR (Art Initiative Ridgewood), a movement to enhance public spaces, celebrate the Village's history, boost community pride and enhance our Central Business District. Their first project is the design and creation of a bold, colorful mural under the train trestle. Rossi Paint Stores has generously donated the paint and supplies. The next step is to recruit artistically inclined residents to be part of the design team and help make the transformation happen. Sign up to volunteer!

‍ATTENTION YANKEES FANS

‍Yesterday was opening day. It's the perfect time to secure your spot at Star Wars Day at Yankee Stadium! Discounted tickets are available for Ridgewood residents.

REAL ID DEADLINE

‍Starting May 7, 2025, you must have a REAL ID to fly within the United States, unless you use a U.S. passport or another federally approved form of identification. REAL ID is available by appointment. To meet demand, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission recently launched "REAL ID Thursdays" at licensing centers across the state, adding nearly 4,500 new appointments per Thursday.
