SAPLINGS PLANTED! |
‍Organized by the Shade Tree Commission, an enthusiastic group of volunteers planted 79 saplings in the Willard neighborhood this past Saturday as part of the Village's Adopt a Sapling program, which was launched in 2023. To date, just shy of 200 saplings have been planted. Many thanks to the many residents who volunteered their time to "re-tree" Ridgewood. |

‍UTILITY AND COUNTY CREWS AT WORK |
Traffic in Ridgewood has been heavier than usual recently due to ongoing utility and infrastructure work being performed by Bergen County and PSE&G. To help reduce stormwater runoff, Bergen County has been making improvements to the storm drain system on Maple Avenue ahead of paving planned for the spring. In addition, PSE&G crews have been conducting emergency repairs at multiple locations in the Central Business District.
Â
Please note that the Village does not always receive advance notice before PSE&G or its subcontractors arrive on site. We thank the Ridgewood Police Department for their immediate response in managing traffic during these unplanned disruptions. Please allow extra travel time, as road work in Ridgewood and neighboring towns is expected to continue through the fall.

‍HYDRANT FLUSHING IN PROGRESS |
‍Reminder: As part of Ridgewood Water’s annual preventive maintenance program, utility crews will be flushing hydrants from October 26 through 30 (Sunday night through Thursday morning), weather permitting. Click here to find out when Ridgewood Water will be in your neighborhood.
Â
Please note: You may experience temporary low water pressure or discoloration of your water. Any discolored water is from mineral deposits dislodged during the flushing process and is not a health or safety concern. Ridgewood Water recommends running cold water at the lowest tub or sink for a few minutes before doing laundry or using the dishwasher in order to clear the water.
Â
Also recommended:Â bypassing any home filtration systems while flushing your pipes, as mineral deposits could load the filter membrane.

‍RESIDENTIAL FLOOD COMMITTEE TOUR |
‍The Residential Flood Advisory Committee recently went on a field trip, touring the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook (pictured), Saddle River and flood-prone areas in the Hope Street neighborhood. Committee members observed conditions, identified areas of concern, and discussed flood response as well as ways to protect homes and infrastructure from future flooding. |

‍DROUGHT WATCH STILL IN EFFECT |
‍The coastal storm did little to improve water supply conditions statewide, and below average rainfall patterns are expected next week. As a result, New Jersey remains in a statewide Drought Watch. All residents are asked to follow water conservation practices, and to use water wisely, particularly when using water outdoors. |
‍PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT |
The Ridgewood Police Department urges residents to stay alert following the recent coyote attacks in Bergen County.
Stay alert: Supervise children and pets outdoors, especially near wooded areas or after dark.
Secure your property: Keep garbage, compost, and pet food indoors or tightly sealed.
Remove attractants: Clear brush and fallen fruit that may draw wildlife.
Leash pets: Keep dogs on a short leash; don’t leave them unattended outside.
If you see a coyote: Call the Ridgewood Police Department. Do not approach or feed it. Make loud noises, wave your arms, or throw objects to scare it away.
If you or your pet are bitten or scratched: Seek medical care immediately.Â
