‍CLOSED ON MONDAY

‍In observance of Columbus Day, all Village offices and departments (except emergency services) will be closed on Monday, October 13. There will be no garbage collection or recycling pickup, and the Recycling Center also will be closed. Enjoy the long weekend!


‍THE BRIDGE IS BACK

Following an extensive refurbishment, the Kingsbridge Lane Pedestrian Bridge has been returned to Ridgewood. It's now resting roadside while the site is prepared for its upcoming reinstallation. 


‍PLAYGROUND CLOSED

‍Demolition of the playground at Habernickel Park will begin today, paving the way for the installation of ADA-accessible equipment The new playground will be partially funded by a local recreation improvement grant. 


‍ROADWORK WRAPPING UP

The mild weather allowed the Village to complete a few more paving projects this year. Among the streets resurfaced: Eastbrook Road, Hammond Road, Highview Terrace, Ivy Place, Linden Street, Stonycroft Road, Westgate Road and Woodside Avenue. Sidewalks also were installed on South Pleasant Street (pictured) from Grove Street to Delaware Avenue through funding from a New Jersey Department of Transportation grant.  


‍DROUGHT WATCH
STILL IN EFFECT

‍With below average rainfall becoming the dominant weather pattern, impacting streamflow, groundwater and water supply reservoirs, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has declared a statewide Drought Watch. All residents are asked to follow water conservation practices, and to use water wisely, particularly when using water outdoors.


‍WELLNESS CHALLENGE UPDATE

We are pleased to report that 346,533 minutes have been logged for the 1 Million Minutes of Wellness Challenge, which kicked off on September 13 and runs through December 5. Let's keep the momentum going! 

 

Visit the Wellness Challenge web page to learn about the 12-week challenge, which is designed to introduce participants of all ages and abilities to the eight pillars of wellness and unite individuals, families, schools, businesses and houses of worship around the shared goal of building a healthier community - one minute at a time. 

 

Participating in the challenge is easy. Simply log your minutes on the My Ridgewood app or use this Google Form. 


‍ART SHOW RECEPTION TONIGHT 

‍The Ridgewood Arts Foundation's third annual ARTober Exhibit, a month-long celebration of local artists, runs through October 28 at The Stable. A variety of disciplines are on display including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and mixed media. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Explore the gallery and meet the artists at a reception on Friday, October 10, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. 


‍OKTOBERFEST UPDATE

The Oktoberfest Committee is monitoring the weather forecast and will make a decision this evening regarding Sunday’s event. Please check our social media pages for updates.


‍MENOPAUSE DEMYSTIFIED

‍Join Tammy Juco, certified menopause coaching specialist, at the Ridgewood Public Library on Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00 pm for an evening of enlightenment, empowerment and community. Attendance = 75 minutes of wellness!


‍REGISTER TO VOTE!

Is someone in your household turning 18 on or before November 4? They can vote in the 2025 General Election! Voter registration forms are available at the Village Clerk's office on the fifth floor of Village Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The deadline to register to vote or to update your information is October 14. You may also register to vote in the lobby of the Ridgewood Public Library from 4:30 to 9:00 pm on October 14.

‍LOOKING FOR A JOB?

The 2025 Bergen County Job Fair is taking place on Friday, October 17 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm (doors open at 8:30 AM) at Bergen Community College.


‍VOLUNTEER TO PLANT
A TREE

‍It's a simple way to make a lasting difference in our community - help plant saplings on Saturday, October 18. Bring a shovel, gloves, hammer and a good sense of humor to Habernickel Park Pavilion (note location change) at 9:00 am!


‍CALLING ALL CRAFTERS

This winter, trees around the Village will be getting a cozy, colorful new look courtesy of the Outside AiR (Art in Ridgewood) Committee. A whimsical "yarn bomb" art installation is in the works, and the committee could use more volunteers to knit or crochet granny squares (any color, size or pattern) for the project. If you can help, please email RidgewoodMuralProject@gmail.com. The deadline for donations is November 1. 


‍PROPERTY TAX RELIEF DEADLINE

The deadline to file applications for the following New Jersey property tax relief programs is October 31, 2025:

  • ANCHOR (Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters) Program
  • Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) Program
  • Stay NJ Property Tax Credit Program

 

The combined application and instructions for all three property tax programs is available on the New Jersey Division of Taxation's website.
