‍DROUGHT WATCH
IN EFFECT

‍With below average rainfall becoming the dominant weather pattern, impacting streamflow, groundwater and water supply reservoirs, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has declared a statewide Drought Watch. All residents are asked to follow water conservation practices, and to use water wisely, particularly when using water outdoors.


‍STORM DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

‍On Monday, October 6, Bergen County is scheduled to begin storm drainage improvements at nearly a dozen locations along Maple Avenue. We appreciate your patience as the county undertakes this important work. 


‍VILLAGE HALL CONSTRUCTION

The roof replacement at Village Hall will begin on Monday, October 6 and may continue through Friday, October 10. During this time, the Courtyard and Community Center entrance will be closed. Please use either the Main Rear Entrance or the Maple Avenue entrance during construction. Thank you!


‍HONORING GOLD STAR FAMILIES

‍The Village's Gold Star Families were honored this past Sunday at a moving, solemn ceremony hosted by Ridgewood American Legion Post 53. This annual event is dedicated to remembering those who died in the line of active-duty military service. 


‍WELLNESS CHALLENGE UPDATE

We are pleased to report that nearly 200,000 minutes have been logged for the 1 Million Minutes of Wellness Challenge, which kicked off on September 13 and runs through December 5. Let's keep the momentum going! 

 

Visit the Wellness Challenge web page to learn about the 12-week challenge, which is designed to introduce participants of all ages and abilities to the eight pillars of wellness and unite individuals, families, schools, businesses and houses of worship around the shared goal of building a healthier community - one minute at a time. 

 

Participating in the challenge is easy. Simply log your minutes on the My Ridgewood app or use this Google Form. 


‍ART SHOW OPENS TODAY 

‍The Ridgewood Arts Foundation's third annual ARTober Exhibit, a month-long celebration of local artists, opens at The Stable today and runs through October 28. A variety of disciplines are on display including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and mixed media. Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Explore the gallery and meet the artists at a reception on Friday, October 10, 6:00 to 8:00 pm. 


COUNCIL CHAT TOMORROW

‍The final Council Chat of the year will take place this Saturday, October 4 from 9:00 to 11:00 am in the Caucus Room on the 4th floor of Village Hall. If you would like to talk with two of our elected officials, please call 201-670-5500, ext. 2206 to reserve a time slot. Walk-ins also are welcome, but residents with appointments will be accommodated first.

‍CALLING ALL CRAFTERS!

This winter, trees around the Village will be getting a cozy, colorful new look courtesy of the Outside AiR (Art in Ridgewood) Committee. A whimsical "yarn bomb" art installation is in the works, and the committee could use more volunteers to knit or crochet granny squares (any color, size or pattern) for the project. If you can help, please email RidgewoodMuralProject@gmail.com. The deadline for donations is November 1.

Is someone in your household turning 18 on or before November 4? They can vote in the 2025 General Election! Voter registration forms are available at the Village Clerk's office on the fifth floor of Village Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The deadline to register to vote or to update your information is October 14. You may also register to vote in the lobby of the Ridgewood Public Library from 4:30 to 9:00 pm on October 14.

‍It's a simple way to make a lasting difference in our community - help plant saplings on Saturday, October 18. Bring a shovel, gloves, hammer and a good sense of humor to the Willard School parking lot at 9:00 am!
