‍LET THERE BE
(LED) LIGHT!

‍Phase II of the LED lighting project at Veterans Field is moving ahead thanks to financial support from numerous community partners who were officially thanked at Wednesday night's Village Counci Meeting - the County of Bergen, Ridgewood Board of Education, Ridgewood Baseball and Softball Association, Ridgewood Maroons Soccer, Ridgewood Junior Football Association and Ridgewood Lacrosse Association. "It's amazing what we can do when we all hold hands. Together we can get everything done," said Mayor Paul Vagianos. Phase II will bring LED lighting to the girls varsity softball field, in addition to the soccer fields and the varsity baseball field.

‍PROPERTY TAXES DUE

By NJ statute, property taxes are due February 1st. However, there's a grace period! All payments must be received in the Finance Office by February 10th to avoid the assessment of interest charges. Postmarks are not accepted. You may also pay your taxes online.

‍RECYCLING REMINDERS

‍When strong winds or heavy snow events occur overnight, recyclables may spill over, blow around or be knocked over by snowplows. To eliminate the threat of your recyclables becoming litter, please consider driving your recycling to the drop-off center or waiting until just before 6:00 am on collection day to put out your materials. Recyclables spilled into the roadway will not be removed by Village staff.

Please also consider downloading the Recycle Coach app to your smart device and turning on "push notifications" to receive updates about weather, changes in collection schedules and reminders. In addition, we recommend marking all of your containers with your street address to make them easier to locate if they are lost due to high winds.

Cardboard boxes should be:

  • Emptied, flattened and tied, or
  • Nested (place small cardboard items into a larger cardboard box)

Paper should not be placed in the barrel issued for bottles and cans. Please use a crate, paper bag or cardboard boxes for paper containment.

Many thanks for your cooperation!

HABERNICKEL PAVILION
UPDATE

‍This spring, residents will have a new place to socialize/picnic at Habernickel Park! The pavilion arrived today, looking a bit like an erector set, but it will soon be assembled and ready for use. The pavilion is designed to serve as a safe shelter for athletes and park-goers to gather in the event of inclement weather and lightning emergencies. It will also serve as another spot for residents to relax and enjoy the scenery.
