‍The Ridgewood Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management are pleased to announce an agreement to stage a paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital at the Office of Emergency Management Headquarters at 33 Douglas Place in Ridgewood.
Â
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and ambulance requests in the Village of Ridgewood will continue to be provided 24/7/365 by the dedicated, full-time career Fire Fighter/EMTs from the Ridgewood Fire Department. This new unit, ALS 404, will serve as an additional resource during peak hours to enhance Advanced Life Support services in the Village of Ridgewood when needed.
Â
“We are excited to bring this new partnership to the Village,” said Fire Chief John T. Judge. “Valley previously had a paramedic unit stationed in Ridgewood, but it was moved when the hospital began shifting facilities to Paramus a few years ago. Due to call volume increases and fewer available paramedic units, there is a definite need for more coverage.” Chief Judge noted that the Ridgewood Fire Department responded to more than 1,500 EMS calls in 2024.
Â
“The Valley Hospital Emergency Services team is thrilled to have a paramedic truck back in the Village of Ridgewood, allowing us to provide rapid and high-quality care to the community,” said Ingrid Santucci, manager, Emergency Medical Services, The Valley Hospital.
