‍VILLAGE UPDATE

‍The Village of Ridgewood has seen significant progress while taking on multiple challenges. Under the leadership of the Village Council, we have made major investments in our infrastructure, improved our financial outlook, continued to provide outstanding services to our residents, and received a number of awards and national rankings. View my memorandum to learn more.

‍INTRODUCING...

RIDGEWOOD PARKS

Imagine this: It's a warm, sunny, gorgeous spring day and you're looking for a place where you can a) take a nature walk, b) hang out with your kids at a playground, and c) have a picnic lunch, preferably by a tranquil body of water. Does such an idyllic spot exist in Ridgewood? Plug your search criteria into the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department's exciting new webpage, and you'll come up with a terrific option - Irene Habernickel Family Park (pictured).

Please spend some time exploring the new page, where you can view numerous photos of each park, take video tours, learn about their history and facilities, get directions and much more. You may even discover a new park or two. Did you know, for example, that a Children's Garden is tucked behind The Stable?

‍INTERESTED IN
VOLUNTEERING?

‍The Ridgewood Village Council is looking for residents who are interested in volunteering to serve on the following Boards and Committees: Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Open Space Committee, Central Business District Advisory Committee, Shade Tree Commission, Green Ridgewood, Green Team Advisory Committee, Project Pride, Ridgewood Arts Council, Stigma-Free Task Force and Kasschau Memorial Shell Committee. Visit the Village website for more information. The deadline for submissions is December 30, 2024.

‍THANK YOU, RIDGEWOOD!

‍Thanks to your generosity, women and children affected by domestic violence will receive holiday gifts this year. Many thanks to the Parks and Recreation Department for keeping the "Giving Tree" tradition alive!

‍HAWES FIELD: DONE

‍Despite the rain, the lower Hawes Field restoration project was completed this week. New natural sod was installed to make the playing field safer for our young athletes.

‍DECEMBER STORY WALK

Looking for something fun and different to do with your young children? Take them on a Story Walk in the meadow adjacent to the Stable! A Story Walk is an exciting literary initiative that combines the reading of a children's story with a walking route. In Gather Round, a gorgeous picture book by David Covell, a girl and her father build a campfire together and create a community of passing travelers. Enjoy this free activity throughout December.‍

‍CLOSED FOR CHRISTMAS

‍In observance of Christmas, Village Hall will be closed on December 24th and 25th. There will be no garbage collection or recycling pickup on December 25th only, and the Recycling Center will be closed.
